This recipe is a great alternative to onion rings. Easy to make and a great accompaniment for almost any meal.
Ingredients
3/4 c flour
1 Tbsp sugar
1 Tbsp cornmeal
2 tsp baking powder
1-2 tsp salt-according to taste
3/4 c milk
2 1/2 c chopped onions
oil for frying
Directions
1. Mix together dry ingredients
2. Add milk and stir (batter will be thick)
3. Add onions and mix thoroughly
4. Heat 1/2 inch oil in a skillet over medium-high heat
5. Drop batter by tablespoons in hot oil, flatten slightly, brown on both sides until nice and crisp
6. Drain on paper towels
7. Serve warm
