This is one of those recipes that we've made for years, but you'll never be able to find it. From Bisquick's Prizewinning Recipes by You published in 1985, I probably sent them 25 cents for this treasure trove of favorites. The little booklet doesn't stay together any longer, so I'm immortalizing the recipe here. Make it and enjoy! Serves 8.
Ingredients
Crust
1 can (16 oz.) refried beans
1 C Bisquick baking mix
1/4 C water
Filling
1 lb. ground beef, browned and drained
1 sliced avocado (optional)
1 C thick salsa
1 1/2 C shredded cheddar cheese
- Heat oven to 375 degrees
- Mix crust ingredients together. Spread mixture in bottom and half-way up side of greased 10" deep dish pie plate.
- Layer filling in order: browned beef, avocado, salsa, cheese.
- Bake for 30 minutes
- Serve! Each piece may be served with a dollop of sour cream.
