If you've ever eaten at Bonefish Grill, you've probably tried their signature appetizer, Bang Bang Shrimp. We have found Bonefish in Glen Burnie, Maryland to be consistent and the seafood preparation excellent. For appetizers, we frequently eat the Tuna Sashimi, which is perfectly seared on the outside and raw on the inside (this is important because not everyone can get this right), as well as the Bang Bang Shrimp. The shrimp dish is spicy from the chili sauce while creamy from the mayonnaise - decadent and not for the calorie conscious.
Serves 4
1/2 C mayonnaise
1/4 C Thai Sweet Chili Sauce
3 drops Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce (or to taste)
1 lb shelled and deveined shrimp
Dry cornstarch
Oil for frying
Lettuce
Chopped scallions
Mix mayonnaise with Thai Sweet Chili Sauce. Add hot sauce to taste. Dredge the shrimp in cornstarch. Deep fat fry the shrimp until lighty brown. Drain on paper towel, put in a bowl and coat with the sauce. Serve in a lettuce lined bowl, top with chopped scallions.
