1 box of cake mix along with necessary ingredients to prepare - usually oil, water and eggs
1 can of ready to spread frosting
ice cream or whipped cream for topping

- Grease or spritz with oil the inside of a microwaveable cake pan or stoneware pan.
- Prepare cake batter according to directions on box and pour prepared cake mix into your pan.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized dollops of icing onto the cake batter. Use the entire can!
- Microwave uncovered for 11-12 minutes. If your microwave does not rotate, turn the pan halfway through the cook time.
- Serve immediately! Scoop warm lava cake into a bowl and top with ice cream or whipped cream.
