These cookies, which resemble Wise Men's hats were unique when I was growing up. They now appear in several varieties and the recipe appears everywhere, but these were the originals!
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
1 3/4 C Flour
1 tsp Baking Soda
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 C Sugar
1/2 C Brown Sugar
1/2 C Shortening
1/2 C Peanut Butter
1 Egg
2 T Milk
1 tsp Vanilla
48 Candy Kisses
Combine all ingredients except candy. Mix on lowest speed of mixer til dough forms. Shape into balls and roll in sugar. Bake 10-12 min. Top each cookie with a kiss - press firmly.
