To say that this is an old family recipe is an understatement. Mrs. Ward was as much a mother to my brothers and I as was our own mother. She was our mother's best friend for nearly 50 years and the source of countless amazing recipes. This is but one.
4 slices bacon
1 C chopped onion
1 C chopped green pepper
2 16-oz cans pork and beans (Bush's)
1/2 C ketchup
2 T brown sugar
1 tsp dry mustard
Fry Bacon to Crisp & Remove (retain drippings); Sautee onions & green peppers in bacon drippings until tender. Stir in Beans, Ketchup, Sugar, Mustard & Bacon; Remove From Heat. Pour into a greased baking dish (1 1/2 Quart or so) and bake, covered, at 350 for 40 Minutes.
